How to Apply
STEP 1 : Download Application Form.
Download the Application form from the Jharkhand State Bar Council Website. Or, purchase the form from the Council’s office. The cost of the Form is Rs Twelve Hundred and Fifty only (Rs 1250) which has to be paid by all candidates irrespective of whether the form was downloaded from JSBC website or whether hardcopy was purchased from the Council’s office. Payment for this like any other payment to the Council has to be made by demand draft payable to the concerned account. For the payment of cost of enrollment form, the Demand Draft is made payable to the account of “Jharkhand State Bar Council“. The DD is made payable at Ranchi
STEP 2 : Completely Fill the Application Form.
Step 3: Submit the Enrollment form with the required documents and required Fee Attach the undermentioned documents
Required Documents are as follows:
Original board Certificate.
Original / Provisional Intermediate Certificate of Mark Sheet
Original / Provisional Certificate of Graduation alongwith mark sheet of final year
Original / Provisional Certificate of LL.B along with marksheet of each year/semester
Character certificates of LL.B
Attested photocopies of aforesaid certificates and mark sheets
Four colour passport size photographs [two copies attested in front and two copies attested in back by one person either advocate (10 years experience ) or gazette officer who identify at page no. 9 of enrollment from)]
A self addressed envelope affixed with stamp of Rs .25/- only
Retirement certificate (for retire person)
Caste certificate ( For SC / ST only)
Certificate, in the form prescribed, as to his moral character and of his fitness to be an Advocate on the Roll of Advocate of the Bar Jharkhand State Bar Council from at least two persons of respectability and position (not being his relations).
A declaration in writing by the applicant that he will faithfully observe and abide by all rules made by the Jharkhand State Bar Council and the Bar Council of India
A declaration that he is a citizen of India or a national of a country
A receipt from the office of the Jharkhand State Bar Council that the applicant has paid the fee prescribed for enrollment under Section 24(1))(f).
A declaration that the applicant has completed 21 years of his age on or before the day of the application
A declaration that the applicant is not in full or part-time employment or in service.

Fee To be submitted with enrollment application form
1. Cost of Enrollment Application Form: Rs 1250/
2. Enrollment Fee: Rs 6000/ (For ST/SC the fee is Rs 3000/)
3. Administrative Charges: Rs 5000/ (For ST/SC the charge is Rs 2500). However, for those who have completed 45 years of age or have retired or left other job to apply for enrollment as Advocate, then the aforesaid chare would be Rs 20,000/
4. Verification Charge: Rs 2500/
All the aforesaid fee is to be paid with the application by separate Demand Drafts made payable to “Jharkhand State Bar Council“
Fee To be submitted After Enrollment
(a) A Demand Draft of Rs 3000/ made payable to “Bar Council of India welfare committee for the state of Jharkhand“, payable at Ranchi
(b) A Demand Draft of Rs 410/ made payable to “Jharkhand State Bar Council“, payable at Ranchi, for I. Card and Rules Book
(c) A Demand Draft of Rs 3300/ made payable to “Jharkhand Bar Council Journal“, at Ranchi
At JSBC office, the enrollment application form is scrutinised and put up before the scrutiny committee. After clearance, a notice is displayed on the notice board of the Bar Council for fourteen days for objection, if any to such enrollment. Thereafter, the Enrollment committee considers the applications with report.
Enrollment Number and License to Practice
The applicants whose names are cleared are given an enrollment number and a license to practice. If the applicant has cleared LL.B. before the session of 2009-2010, then he is conferred the permanent enrollment certificate. Others are conferred provisional enrollment certificates.
Requirement of All India Bar Examination
Those who are conferred provisional enrollment certificates have the same right to practice as advocates except that they are required to appear for and clear AIBE conducted by the Bar Council of India before the end of three years from the date of enrollment. if he fails to clear the same, his license to practice will be deemed to have been suspended. But he does not require permission, etc to appear for AIBE whenever he wants. As soon as he clears the AIBE, his license to practice is deemed to have been resumed. No official work is needed for such resumption. But he should then apply for permanent enrollment certificate.

The candidate is required to submit his provisional enrollment certificate, two photographs in Advocate’s dress and a copy of the Certificate of Practice (COP) conferred by the BCI to successful candidates
